Howdy all,

thought it would be a good idea to list your links to your ska site here, so we can see what's possible & how others have implemented ska links.

Heres mine:

http://www.mx24.co.uk/

A new dirtbike directory, finished with the design nearly and now the hard work building the links up :)

I've modified a fair bit of the code to suit me, mainly looks & style.....SL comes out of the box very nice, but I feel its better to make it individual :)

I've also added a newsletter today, so that I can start building up a database - to use to keep people updated on the site & sending special offers etc.

Comments/ideas appreciated on my site.........

Get listing your site too!...........

Ben.

p.s. SL - why dont you add a category on your demo directory for SL users to list their sites :)

Hey Ben, Any Idea on how you can get adsense code to different keywords for different categories. Would be nice. My site is geared to getting paid at home . Here is my link page.

http://www.get-paid-at-home.com/skalinks_1_4

I am still working out the details, then I will do a little more about the design. Might make it a little more like my site.

I like your idea about SL adding our links ... Hes got good PR LOL!

Howdy,

well, adsense looks at the content as you prob know already-so the only thing it looks at differnt is the category name & content within the link description.

It does change on your site i.e.

http://www.get-paid-at-home.com/skalinks_1_4/Business_and_Industry/

Has ad's for cash for free etc.

maybe once you have more links & page content it will be more relevant?

I'd also put your adsense code to show under the links too, like I have......edit cat.tpl (I've made a post on here somewher on how to add the code :)

Mine is running as an add-on to a phpBB Forum v 2.0.19 that is modded to include SMartor's EZPortal v 2.1.8c and Knowledge Base MOD v 2.0.2.

It gets pretty complicated controlling the mods, but we now have a really nice site structure and function suite.

Goal is to provide a community, knowledge base and directory for Canadian Marketing people all in one place...enter the Marketing Strategy Canada Forum.

Look for the Resources Directory (skalinks) here http://www/mscforum.com/skalinks_1_5/

and as a link called MSC Resource Directory off the main menu at the site's portal / knowledge base / directory domain http://www.mscforum.com

I MODded skalinks to kill off whitespace for unused functions and drop the redundant URL display in listings. see http://www.skalinks.com/forums/1_434_0.html Otherwise it is vanilla.

There are a few other mods in place, relating primarily to phpBB which probably need no comment here.

By the way we are open for business if anyone out there is into Marketing... join the forum, post some links.... we will recip with relevant

I never understand why spammers come along and purposely ruin a thread since forum links really are not the right kind of links and they wind-up spamming their own site with untargetted looky-loos wasting their bandwidth.

OK anyway, I have just installed skalinks at http://dir.w3host.info/ and I really like it so far. I haven't customized anything yet, so that is why I am looking around in here for ideas. ;)

I guess I will have to check into the smarty templates because I really want to do some serious customization to it. ;)

But first I was looking for information to get the advertising functioning. I really didn't find much information on the advertising in the documentation. I am guessing that you enter and save code in HTML for ads, allowing you to use Google Ads as well as build your own ads as html code using the skalinks base directory as the base directory for relative linking (such as to banners)... or is absolute linking required to image files and internal link paths? What about recomended banner management programs?

Oops, I'll have to post that somewhere else if I don't find the answer, I tend to ramble. :D

I've used quite a few directories on several servers and although I have only installed skalinks once, I must say that I am quite impressed. And the best thing is that it doesn't look like crap right out of the box like all of the others I have used which also install well. ;)

Good Job! ;)

Hello Doug Peters

You can create your own ads by pasting html code or google ads in Advertisement section , may be in future we will create the possobility to upload your own images, but now you need to link to some image in your html code.

As I understood you want to really customize skalinks, and I think that this info http://smarty.php.net info will help you in that. And if you will any problems, please, ask us about it here or by email.

Thank you very much for choise SkaLinks!
