Hello all our dear customers, I am happy to tell you about new version release! Our company was made a hard work, and we introduce you our new version of SkaLinks - Links Exchange Script, with many new and modern features, different color themes and others. Of course, we are not going to stop on this version, the work was made and the work is continue. Please, feel free to tell us about your opinion or notes about script, we will review all prepositions and include your changes in next versions.

hello! it's great news!
one question - if I use SkaLinks_1_3_2 how I can update it to 1.4 ?
or it's impossible and I need to install it again at start?

If you already have ver.1_3_2, and you want to have ver1.4, you need to delete files of old version, upload new files, run installation script, and [b]insert in to the field "$_mysql_dbname` the name of database, which you used with SkaLinks ver.1.3.2, if you will do it, you save tyour data with links and categories and this links and cats will appear in your new SkaLinks!

Well, the pagerank display is not a option, this feature was hardcodeed in templates, and if you wish to disable pagerank display, you whould delete displaying of pagerank from templates.

I'm sorry - I'm looking through the files but not finding anything that obviously calls Pagerank. What lines am I looking for, and in which files? I realize this is a feature a lot of people want, but it autopings Google's servers against their TOS, which is why I need to delete it.

There is a list of files, which you need to modify to remove PageRank from SkaLinks script:
SkaLinks_include/SkaLinks.class.php
detailed/listing.php
templates/cat.tpl
templates/search.tpl
templates/admin_links_list.tpl
Please, modify this files for remove pagerank, also, if you wish, we can make this custom modification for little pay, my contact email is admin@skalinks.com

I don't think it's fair you've implemented a Google TOS-breaking feature that could get our directories banned from Google with no option to turn it off. I've never seen any other script offer pagerank without a way to turn it off.
So I'm going back to version 1.2. Hopefully in 1.5, you'll offer pagerank as an option, not a requirement.

I think you are wrong. Because, Google is very power server, ofcourse, google watches for connections, and if there are too manu connections from one IP , than , this ip will be banned by google, but, there must be near 1 or 2 millions connections from one server, and ofcourse, one site with skalinks does not make so much connections, and, I think, this is absolutly safly to use pagerank in SkaLinks. But, in new version this feature will be as option.

Admin, this is common rule for good software: any additional features other than main functionality, should be able turned off or configurable. Flexibility is the best feature. You shouldn't enforce users to anything, instead You should give them a choice.

You are right about optional features. PageRank was first of all developed for our own needs but as practice shows not all SkaLinks users want this feature enabled. No problem, we'll make it optional soon, thank you for giving us a note.
