Access denied for user: 'clikns55_linksad@localhost' (Using password: YES)
can someone tell me what is causing this error?
Also I have a backup of a 1.4 version mysql database, can I somehow do a fresh install of 1.5 and import this database?

Hello wishmaster
No, you can not restore backup from 1.4 to 1.5 in interface, you need to do it in your Cpanel ( phpmyadmin for exam ).
Also, when you have this error, it mean, that you inserted incorrect username or password to your mysql db.
