I thought that I had the software working correctly, but when I click on the link for the "next" page of links....there is no page there. I checked and there is no page on my server there either. I tried chmoding everything to 777 to see if it would make a difference. What am I missing?

Did you deleted .htaccess file? If you did , please, try to disable re-write mode on "Settings" page and try again.
