It would be nice for editor/admin to have option not to send message accompanying any action with links: add/modify/approve/disapprove. Admin, do You like to add check box for this? Also there should be default value assigned to this check box in the config file.

Well, one question, if the sending emails will be disabled, nobody can't knwo, that the link to his site was posted in directory, and he does not post the same link on his site on your directory or he will not know that his link was deleted or modified, am I right? Please, whould you more argue your preposition to include this checkbox in admin control panel.

Why nobody? Sending mail will not be globally disabled. The flag "don't send mail" should be applied only to those links which editor operate on. For every action on every link editor should have choice to send mail or not to send. When user (not editor) post a link, the mail always will be sent. What for we need this? There may be many such situations. When You copy directory from one site to another or migrating from other directory software (from Your rival). When You create new directory, You may want postpone notification of links owners before the moment when directory grow up enough. There may be many other slight changes (spell check for example) of links or directory modification where no necessity to disturb users with waste notification. Even if there will be nothing of the needs above, You should give to administrator full control on the system, because he know what he doing. More flexible software is better.
In this context there is other feature wanted: the possibility to send some kind notification (may by one of existing types: when links changes of published or some new addition type) to arbitrary list of users or even to all users. May be there should be on more button "Send" side with others: Delete, Approve and Disapprove.
