If you want to learn about this language that can start a kid on programming, through to teaching an adult about AI, please look through this site. Logo has grown up from it′s parent (LISP). As you get deeper (past the simple turtle commands) you will quickly see similarities between Logo and it′s parent. The "turtle" in early versions used to be a robotic turtle dragging a pen along the floor. The robotic turtle has given way to the screen, which opens up a world of fun for all ages.

Logo is a high-level programming language noted for its ease of use and graphics capabilities. Logo′s syntax is more understandable for novices. Logo is so easy that it can be understood by the 7 to 77 years old. Logo′s graphics language is called turtle graphics, which allows complex graphics images to be created with a minimum of coding. Logo is the simplest programming language. It was developed by Seymour Papert in 1968. It was developed originally as a teaching tool. Logo has evolved into a powerful computer language. There are about 200 commands and operations. Though Logo is a complete language it is mainly used for drawing.

We use MSW Logo implemented by George Mills. This version of LOGO is easy to install and runs on Windows 3.1 (there is also a 32 bit version available for Win95 and NT). There are some quirks in this implementation (like having to quote variable names with a semicolon to use their value) but the kids have had good luck using it for the small programs they′re writing.
